Michele Danner

Ambassador

Michele Danner

Michele Danner is of Inupiaq and Native Hawaiian descent; she hopes that one day she can use her talents to better her community. She is a sophomore at the University of Alaska Anchorage, a 25 Under 25 Youth Leader with UNITY, and an Intern for a Native Corporation in Alaska. This past year Michele has explored various intern positions in Alaska with hopes to set a field of study in place. While she may not know where she wants to serve yet, she is confident about who she wants to serve: Alaska Native youth and people. Aside from being a full-time student and part-time Intern, Michele enjoys creating short films and speaking publicly at community events. She is a new ambassador, and she is excited to serve in this role!

In Maine, many native children were taken and placed in non-native families up until the 1970s. I believe my late grandmother was one of these children, but I don’t know if these records were kept. How can we reconnect when there was so much displacement?
