Laws that protect indigenous families

I will like to know what are the laws that protect indigenous families all over the Americas?

You’ll hear Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) when talking about Indigenous families in North America.

This was in response to the separation and sometimes forced removal of Native children from their homes and communities with the original intent to assimilate and therefore decimate tribal communities through colonization.

In more recent times, research found that 25%–35% of all Native children were being removed; of these, 85% were placed outside of their families and communities—even when fit and willing relatives were available.

ICWA was initiated in 1978, with the intent to “protect the best interests of Indian children and to promote the stability and security of Indian tribes and families”

ICWA was recently revised in 2016 by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
