Carmen Tyler

Ambassador

Carmen Tyler

Carmen, Eastern Shoshone, wants to be an ambassador, to set an example to the upcoming generations.

They need to be led in the right direction, because they are our future. I want to help my community in a positive way, and spread what I did to other communities. I also want to share my cultural knowledge, and be in an organization that helps and betters communities, people, and personal strengths. I want to honor my elders and ancestors in that manner, that is why I wanted to become a We R Native Youth Ambassador. I really love to make people laugh, laughter is the best medicine. I love to tell stories that I made up on the top of my head. I share my humor with my elders in the manor. I’m trying to learn as much as I can before they take that journey. I spend most of my time with them, and I’m very fortunate that they took the time to teach me. I’ve never done anything like this before, so I plan to share my cultural wisdom. At my school they call me grandma because I’m really intelligent with the culture we have. I have peers come up to me and ask me how Shoshone came to be. That’s why I wish to share this personal attribute with you.
