Jacquelyn Nielsen

Ambassador

Jacquelyn Nielsen

Jacquelyn Nielsen, Northwest Band of Shoshone, age 17, is passionate about working with the Native community and helping live a healthy life style. Jacquelyn wants to help show the youth in her community that we as Native people can make a difference. She is a very compassionate person and she is currently the peer mentor liaison at Wisdom of the Elders Inc. where she had to prepare for the Science Field Summer Camp. Some of her hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, and road trips….she even graduated high school when she was 15. We are excited to welcome her and are looking forward to working with this compassionate ambassador.

I’m non-binary and I named myself after a book character, when I was thinking back on the book I remember that at the end the main character had small bird feathers intertwined with her braid and I’m scared I named myself after someone who has appropriated from native culture, fictional or not.
