Natalia Shaw

Ambassador

Natalia Shaw

Natalia Shaw, Ojibwe/Anishinaabe, age 19, believes that Native youth are resilient, and are often times unaware of the power we have as well as the capabilities we possess. Individually we are strong, but together we are powerful. This is why Natalia decided to become a WRN Ambassador. She is passionate about sharing her culture with her community, especially the University community, and diminishing stereotypes in the meantime. She believes that Native American history can be used and turned into a story of strength, growth, radiance and fortitude. If you don’t see her in her role as president of the Native American Student Union at the University of Redlands, you can catch her debunking the stereotypes of Indigenous peoples as a WRN Ambassador.

I’m an native elder (Pomo) my older grandchildren were given a Indian name and younger ones do not. I no longer know of spiritual person to do that. So would love to give my grandchildren a Indian name is it proper for me to have that privilege.
