Zakkery Garza

Zakkery Garza, Ponca/Kiowa/Cheyenne Arapaho, age 21, is well known at powwows and can sing in 7 different tribal languages. He was also head of the Native American Club at his school for 4 years. Zakkery is passionate about preserving Native culture throughout Oklahoma. As a WRN Ambassador, he wants to start a youth and children’s choir. By performing at churches, fundraisers and other

events, he will strive to show Oklahoma that they are still passionate when it comes to heritage!

Is it ok to create the art work of another tribe? As a kid I was taught Haida art by a Haida artist and I would like to explore it more now. I am part Cree but did not grow up with the culture as my father was put into foster care during the 60’s scoop.
