i really want to get connected to my indigenous roots but i don’t know if that’s something I should do or if it’s my place to do so. my grandmother who passed before i was born had an indigenous parent, but i don’t know from where or anything of the sort!

Hello Jaila,

Thank you for your question, I think a lot of people who were not raised with their Tribal communities feel this way. I am always glad to hear when people want to explore their Native identity and heritage. Native American cultures are diverse and beautiful. This exploration should be conducted with respect to our ancestors, past present and future. Explore away! We welcome you with open arms

Last fall I answered a similar question that you might find helpful. Check on WeRNative’s website here.

Good luck on your journey.
