ASK YOUR RELATIVE QUESTIONS

How do I become a motivational speaker with my high school?

Hi Cheyenne,

It’s exciting to hear that young people want to share their lives and experiences. Motivational speakers can deliver presentations and speeches on any topic. What is important is your passion for the topic you are speaking on. First, identify your message. Second, your audience. Then brush up on your public speaking skills and promote your speaking abilities. Bring out your message clearly, let your message flow and make it unique and relevant to the audience.

  1. Choose the topic you want to speak about
  2. Keep your message relevant and timely
  3. Become an expert
  4. Know your audience
  5. Take classes in public speaking
  6. Record your speeches
  7. Practice your writing
  8. Think about props or equipment
  9. Promote yourself
  10. Find a great venue
  11. Invite feedback

I would suggest you reach out to a teacher at your school and ask them for some guidance and support. Listen, read, reflect, and repeat until your message is clear and concise. It’s also good to have some humor, even if you are talking about a difficult or challenging subject.

We R Native is looking forward to hearing your motivational speech 🙂 and hope that you’re able to share it at wernative.org/shareyourstory Good luck!
