Can you bead a condom?

Can you bead a condom?

Good question. No you cannot bead a condom if you’re planning on using it for sex, though it may look pretty rad.

You never want to put holes or sharp objects, like scissors or beading needles near a condom you’re planning on using. That’s because sex fluids can easily get through those holes, which can lead to STIs like HIV and pregnancy.

If you’re looking to make a statement with a beaded condom, then by all means…bead away. You can get online to see some cool designs other folks have done in order to help young people talk about sex and sexuality positively, as well as to reclaim and restore our holistic Indigenous ways of thinking around our bodies, gender identities, and sexuality.

Just remember, beaded condom = Art, and straight from an unexpired package = for use.
