ASK YOUR RELATIVE QUESTIONS

Hey Auntie, my brother andI have been arguing about washing our masks every time after we go grocery shopping. I don’t think it needs it every time, but my brother does. Who’s right?

Well, first good on you for wearing your masks when you’re out.

Sorry, but your brother is right on this one. You should treat your mask like a biohazard:

  • Don’t let it touch anything, especially things like the kitchen counter or coffee table
  • Put your cloth mask in the washer, with laundry soap, then the dryer
  • Make sure to wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds after handling your mask

If you can’t wash it every time after using it, put it in a paper bag and leave it someplace warm, like your dash board for at least two-days for the virus to become ineffective.

Surgical masks can be reused too but have to stay in the bag for at least seven days.

Take care!
