How do I earn more credits in High School?

Dear Auntie, How do I earn more credits in high school?

So first thing you’re going to want to do is talk to your school counselor. They can look up the classes you have currently completed, those you may have to repeat, and those you are missing.

There are a couple different ways you can earn credits to graduate:

  1. Online Classes – you usually have to pay for these classes, but you can take them at your own pace. You can make up a few credits this way, or even make up an entire semester.
  2. Credit Recovery – (this means taking a class over that you have previously failed, or did not complete). You can do this either through your local community college, or by attending an alternative school. These classes are usually self-paced, meaning you go at your own pace, and are tech-based; so being on a computer. You would have to pay for the college classes, but usually don’t have to for the alternative school.
  3. Summer School – this can be a good option for credit recovery classes and you usually don’t have to pay. Though summer school usually only offers core classes, but in a condensed version.

So, go talk to your school counselor and make a plan to get yourself back on track. Good for you for looking into this.

Good luck!
