ASK YOUR RELATIVE QUESTIONS

In the last 6 months I have had a bird of prey known as a "Prairie Falcoln" swooping down over my car. Last March, while sitting in my car at work, one actually landed on the roof of my car and looked at me! What does it mean?

Hello Steven,

This is an interesting question. There can be many interpretations of seeing birds of prey or having them show up in your environment. Hawks are birds of prey and many Native American traditions use hawk feathers in their regalia and in ceremony’s. Hawks scan their environment from high above the ground, looking for potential threats and sources of food. For many tribes the hawk symbolizes the ability to use intuition and higher vision in order to complete tasks or make important decisions.

The hawk swooping down on you can be interpreted as the universe wanting you to learn lessons or expand your knowledge and wisdom. An additional interpretation could be that hawks also encourage us to use laser focus and precision to get things done, and to take the lead in life.

Many tribes have different interpretations of this, and I am not an expert. I would suggest you connect with an elder in your community or tribe for more accurate interpretation of this experience.

Hope that helps,

Auntie Manda
