ASK YOUR RELATIVE QUESTIONS

The people I love are starting to lose hope in me and It’s best no to confront them about it. What should I do?

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out! It’s not an easy thing to recognize you need help, then asking for it.

It sounds like right now finding a counselor to talk through the reasons you may be feeling the way you do, would be a good start.

I would consider talking to your counselor to discuss why you feel your loved ones are losing hope in you. Because you are absolutely worth it! Are you feeling depressed or anxious? If so, let your counselor know, so that they can help you.

When you do meet with a counselor, you should feel comfortable, respected, and have a sense that this is someone from whom you can learn. Don’t give up on finding someone that works.

The bigger support team you have, the more resources you have to get you feeling better, as well as your loved ones.

To find a counselor, check with:

  • School Counselor
  • Tribal Clinic – Mental Health Services
  • Mental Health America has a zip code locator to find a clinic near you with low-cost or sliding scale services. Their Crisis hotline is: 1-800-273-TALK.
  • Text “Native” to 741-741

It would be great to know a little more about what is going on. If you’d like to reach back out, please do.

Thanks for writing in. I’m sending you my thoughts and prayers.

Take care,

Auntie Manda
