Hunt. Fish. Gather. Grow.
During March, we asked you to share what traditional foods you're eating during national nutrition month
My name is Glorianna Jaramillo and I am from Isleta Pueblo. In my submission, I am promoting eating healthy, fresh grown food. My family grows our own vegetables during the summer, through this my family comes together to help plant our food strengthening our family..In my community we try and promote healthy eating through many ways, by farming, fun/run walks, and through cooking classes provided by some of our programs in our Pueblo. As Pueblo people we believe that eating from the earth, we are taking in the earth into our bodies to help nourish and help us grow as a community. We respect our Mother Earth by treating her as a flower, we put only healthy things into our earth so that she may grow and continue to provide for us. Many of the food we grow has an important role in our traditional values and culture. Throughout the year we strive our best to help keep our culture alive and healthy, we cherish every food that we are provided with.
