Tyra Nicolay

Tyra Nicolay, Diné/Navajo, is a passionate leader who is not afraid to use her voice. Tyra works with many organizations like Campaign for the Tobacco Free Kids, the Truth Initiative and Rescue Change Group to insure Native Americans are protected from tobacco and its harmful toll to our society. She was awarded West Region Youth Advocate of the Year by the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids for her work in tobacco control. She created her own youth group called Eagles Innovation Effect, which is a group that is dedicated to bringing awareness to local and global issues like women’s rights, suicide and equality using advocacy and activism. She is also Student Senate President for her high school, a Center for Native American Youth Ambassador and a well known teen environmental scientist. Look out for Tyra, she is always looking for opportunities to improve Native American communities and the world.

I want to learn about the story of the spider catching the snake but I can’t verify or find it. Is this a real Ojibwe tale? I am trying to learn more about my Native American culture.
