Karrena Heredia Medina

Ambassador

Karrena Heredia Medina

Karrena, Samish (WA), wants other Native youth to know that they have voice and power, even though they might feel alone at times. When Karrena was younger, her brother, sister, and she were the only Natives in school. Even now, Natives students make up only 2% of her high school. In spite of this fact, Karrena is still active in her culture and school, having helped plan a powwow with her grandma, serving as the representative for her grade at school, and participating as part of Red Eagle Soaring, a Native Youth Theatre group. As a We R Native Youth Ambassador, Karrena wants to help her friends, family, and community to be active in their culture and to teach them about responsible sexual activity. Karrena also enjoys cooking for her family, because she believes that food can bring people together. Watch out for Karrena as she helps to promote and further We R Natives goal of being a safe space for all Native youth!

Could spirits be trying to tell me something? I’m not Native American as far as I know, but things keep happening so often that I can’t ignore it anymore!
