Thanks for writing in!

We R Native is for Native Youth to ask their relatives any questions that are on their heart.

We’re stoked that you’re reaching out for support. All questions are read and we aim to answer 1-2 NEW questions per month. A limited number are answered on the We R Native website. By submitting a question, you agree that it may be published on the site. Check out answers that other Native youth have asked.

Please note that Ask Your Relative is not a crisis hotline or a counseling service. Our staff are not available 24/7. If you need immediate help, text “NATIVE” to 741-741 or dial or text 988 from any phone for free 24/7 counseling support. You can also check out more Native Youth Support Resources here.

Take care!

Your Relatives,
Manda, Paige, Jane, Asia, Corey, and Maleah

I’m an native elder (Pomo) my older grandchildren were given a Indian name and younger ones do not. I no longer know of spiritual person to do that. So would love to give my grandchildren a Indian name is it proper for me to have that privilege.
