Relaxation Techniques

Relaxation is important. It’s easy to forget to make time for yourself when things get stressful. Take a walk, sit quietly, go fishing, or play sports.

Put aside some time in the day and try out some of these relaxation techniques to see which ones work for you.

  • Go for a walk
  • Listen to some music you really like
  • Go fishing
  • Sit quietly in a park
  • Play your favorite sport
  • Take a bath
  • Go to a movie or watch a DVD
  • Visit a friend
  • Go for a swim
  • Do a puzzle
  • Read a book
  • Learn yoga or meditation
  • Play an instrument
  • Write in a journal

Breathing techniques.  When you’re anxious or stressed, your breathing can become quick and shallow. Learning how to breathe deeply can help reduce some of the physiological symptoms of anxiety. Try some deep breathing techniques to help slow down breathing.
